Community Wellness & Engagement Initiative

Embracing the rich tapestry of diversity, our Community Wellness & Engagement Initiative opens its doors to individuals of all ages, gender identities, nationalities, and those who may be perceived as unconventional. Our inclusive “come as you are” approach transforms our center into a welcoming, friendly, and secure space, fostering connections with old friends and the opportunity to forge new ones.

The primary goal of the Community Wellness & Engagement Initiative is to reconstruct and revitalize the sense of community disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the suspension of interactive community programs, services, and events. Our weekly activities unfold at a conveniently safe location in the community center on a bus route, ensuring accessibility for all, including those with mobility challenges. The center is open from 10 am to 3 pm.

Wellness and active living designed as a weekly program, our initiative aims to inspire and motivate participants to incorporate daily physical activity into their lives, promoting health and independence. Tailored to cater to a diverse range of interests and abilities, each week offers a variety of activities. The focus is on community involvement, particularly aiding individuals with developmental or physical disabilities, including seniors with sight and hearing impairments, in developing skills that enhance their independence and participation in various activities.

The wellness component concentrates on enhancing physical, emotional, and mental health through activities such as strength training, flexibility exercises, balance work, dance, chair fitness, and recreational sports. Other activities, `modern dance, and walking groups, aim to encourage mobility and improve range of motion.
